Viola Davis Biography and Career:

Vivian Davis was born on August 11, 1965, in St. Matthews, South Carolina, United States, at the home of her grandparents who had moved there from New York. Dan Davis, her father, was a horse trainer who raised her. While growing up, Mary Alice supported the family by working as a maid and in the family factory. During her lifetime, Mary was also an active civil rights activist. In addition to being the second youngest of her parents’ six children, Viola is the second youngest person on the planet.

A little more than two months after Davis’ birth in Rhode Island, the Davis family moved there.
