Walter Scott Jr. was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1931. He was the grandson of the Scottish people who had moved to America. His grandparents came from Scotland to the United States. Scott grew up in the United States during the Great Depression. When he was eight years old, he got his first job shovelling snow for his neighbours.
