Angelson was cast as Caitlin Hobart on the Showtime series House of Lies in September 2013, shortly after her casting.
Angelson was given the part of Detective Nicole Gravely in the 2014 film Backstrom, succeeding Mamie Gummer in the role. As a result of her performance in the movie, Deadline Hollywood named Angelson one of the finest casting finds of the year. Good Girls Revolt was an original series produced by Amazon Video and starring her in 2016. Unfortunately, the series was canceled by Amazon after just one season had aired.
She had a supporting role in the American adaptation of the French movie The Intouchables, titled The Upside. The second season of the Titans television program based on DC Comics and the film Flack, in which Angelson will act with Anna Paquin, will air in 2019. Variety selected Angelson as one of the Top Ten Rising TV Stars to Watch.
Angelson had a pair of guest appearances in December 2021 on the primetime NBC programs. This is Us and New Amsterdam, both series in which she has recurring roles. The AfterParty, produced by Phil Lord and Chris Miller and available on Apple TV+, has her starring as a prominent character.
She debuted as Nina in the play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, which went on to win the Tony Award for Best Play at the 67th annual Tony Awards. Ben Brantley, the presenter of the award, referred to her performance as “exquisite.”She has been in several additional off-Broadway productions, including The Cake by Bekah Brunstetter, which was shown at Manhattan Theater Club.
After an assault on Gilead’s embassy and Serena’s improvised house in Canada, Angelson’s character debuted in episode four of the fifth season as Serena’s new hostess. Angelson’s character was introduced in this episode. But as time has gone on, admirers have spotted clues that the new living arrangement may not merely be for her protection: they include the following: When Alanis first meets Serena in episode four, she is awestruck by her stomach, and the Wheelers have complete control over what Serena consumes in terms of both food and drink.
When her houseguest, Serena, said that she might not want to remarry anytime shortly, the Canadian who sympathizes with Gilead lashed out at her. Serena had stated that she might want to avoid remarrying anytime shortly. The young idealist, who had earlier positioned the expectant Mrs. Waterford on a lofty pedestal, saw this as an abomination and considered it abominable.
As Alanis’ fury grew, she ultimately told Serena to go to her room, confirming what Serena must have suspected for some time: that she is, in essence, the Wheelers’ handmaid. Alanis Wheeler is now played by Genevieve Angelson, who just joined the cast of The Handmaid’s Tale. After the Gilead information center in Canada is closed, Alanis and her husband Ryan invite Serena Joy to stay with them at their house.
The pair are ardent advocates of Gilead, and something is unsettling about the way Alanis always has a broad grin on her face and is so enthusiastic about the cause. Serena Joy, Genevieve Angelson plays, shares her home with Alanis Wheeler in the fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale. Alanis welcomed Serena into her house when the Gilead information center closed.
She has complete faith in Gilead’s message and looks up to Serena Joy, who was instrumental in drafting the Republic’s legal code. When they first meet, she welcomes Serena with a bright grin and boundless excitement.
