James Earl Jones Biography and Career:

James Earl Jones, the well-known actor, was born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, on January 17, 1931. When Jones was five, the Jones family relocated to Dublin, Michigan. In 1949, he received his diploma from Dickson High School in Brethren, which is located in Michigan. Jones was a cast member of many shows at Manistee Summer Theatre in 1953. Jones got his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955 from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Before that, he had served for two years in the United States Army.

After receiving his diploma, Jones uprooted his life and moved to New York City, where he enrolled in acting classes at the American Theatre Wing. In 1958, Jones debuted Broadway as the valet in Sunrise at Campobello. The play was produced on Broadway.
