Jen Lada Biography and Career:

Jennifer Lada is a sportscaster for ESPN. She was born in the United States on January 14, 1981. Before that, she had positions at networks in both Milwaukee and Chicago. Between Chicago and Milwaukee, in Illinois, sits the town of Spring Grove, where Lada spent her childhood. She attended Marian Central Catholic High School, where she was on the track team. During her time at Marquette University in Wisconsin, where she earned her degree in communication in 2002, she served as the captain of the school’s cheering squad.

After graduating from college, Lada started her career in broadcasting by working as a sports reporter and anchor for an NBC affiliate station in Rockford, Illinois, called WREX.at Rockford; she supplemented her money by working as a server at a restaurant. 2006 she traveled to Milwaukee to begin working for the Fox station WITI. She ultimately felt “limited” in her work as a weekend sports anchor for WITI. In early 2013, she relocated to a more prominent media market by joining the NBC affiliate Comcast SportsNet Chicago (CSN). She was formerly employed at WITI.

She was first recruited to cover National Hockey League hockey for CSN, where she later served as a reporter and an anchor and sometimes made appearances on the Kap & Haugh radio program.
ESPN recruited Lada in July 2015 to contribute to Colin Cowherd’s ESPN Radio program; however, Cowherd departed the network before August 2015, when Lada was scheduled to begin working there. She and Jorge Sedano co-hosted a program on ESPN Radio at 8 p.m. called “Jorge & Jen,” but the show didn’t last long.

Lada reported feeling “devastated” by her early experience at ESPN. Still, she was able to secure her status at the network by functioning as a “utility player” who could contribute to several programs. This helped Lada secure her position at ESPN. Since 2016, she has held the position of features reporter for College GameDay and host for College Football Live, both of which are long-term duties. She has continued to make guest appearances on other ESPN series, such as Get Up and SportsCenter, and has even hosted a few of them herself.

The death of college football quarterback Tyler Hilinski was the subject of a feature documentary by Lada for E:60 in 2020. The documentary received the Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Documentary.
Lada has maintained her presence in the Wisconsin sports media on a regional level. In 2020, she started working with Gabe Neitzel and Mark Chmura as a co-host on a morning sports program broadcast on the Milwaukee affiliate of ESPN radio station WKTI.

During the 2022–2023 school year, she was the presenter of a weekly radio program on WKTI that was co-hosted with Shaka Smart, the men’s basketball coach at Marquette University. Lada’s first marriage to Dario Melendez, a sports writer in Milwaukee, ended in divorce in 2017. In 2017, the couple tied the knot again. She is a mother of three kids, two of which she had with Melendez. She competes in endurance events on a recreational basis and has completed several marathons and triathlons.

Even Aaron Rodgers is fair game regarding the jokes that will be spoken at the event to honor NFL players and coaches. The comedian Seth Meyers served as the host for the 2015 NFL Honors ceremony. As he made his way around the room, he told a joke about the Green Bay Packers quarterback.

At this point, other people were concerned about his team, and he advised them all to relax and let the situation work itself out. Meyers then joked that the quarterback wasn’t so calm during the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks. Meyers was referring to Russell Wilson’s performance.

Shaka Smart, head coach of the men’s basketball team at Marquette, will have some new segments added to his radio program. On Monday, the Marquette University athletic department and Learfield, the school’s multimedia rightsholder, announced that ESPN personality Jen Lada would be hosting the events that will give name, image, and likeness (NIL) chances for Golden Eagles athletes at Dave & Buster’s in Wauwatosa.

Lada will now be hosting instead of Steve “The Homer” True. True is still the play-by-play commentator for Missouri games on FM-94.5, and he does it alongside an ex-Missouri player named Tony Smith. Lada, a graduate of Marquette University, has worked in the past for WITI-TV (Channel 6). As a freshman at Marquette, Oso Ighodaro needed more action on the court. After two years, Shaka Smart is now prepared to entrust him with significant responsibility.

You may listen to Smart and Lada on their program on FM 94.5 or the Varsity Network app whenever you want. Additionally, it will be broadcast live on Facebook. Since July 2021, collegiate athletes have been allowed to make money off of their name, image, and likeness. Learfield does not represent the players, and the university is not authorized to broker NIL transactions on their behalf. However, NIL arrangements may be negotiated on an individual basis by athletes as a part of events that are linked with the institution.

“Bill and a handful of his buddies were finishing up their motorbike road trip across South Dakota on the 28th of August. This trip fulfilled Bill’s ambition of going on an adventure to visit Sturgis, Deadwood, and Mount Rushmore. When Bill had a stroke and crashed, the group was approaching the entrance of Hells Canyon, and they were on their way to put their motorcycles on the trailer and return to Illinois,” the group said on the GoFundMe page one month ago.
