A singer, songwriter, and guitarist based in the United States, John Clayton Mayer is a multi-talented artist. He spent his entire childhood at his birthplace in Fairfield County, Connecticut. After finishing high school he enrolled at Boston’s Berklee College of Music. The two, along with Clay Cook, relocated to Atlanta, Georgia when he was an adult and he quit the company. Because of this, the two of them formed a band under the name Lo-Fi Masters. The collective’s existence was fleeting.
Mayer went on to play for local teams after the breakup, where he gained recognition for his skills. Mayer had planned on skipping college and devoting his entire life to music throughout the better part of his adolescence. The decision was not well received by his parents, who insisted that he complete his education. When he was only 19 years old, he became interested in attending Berklee College of Music because of its prestigious music program.
Though he was still enrolled at Berklee, he and his friend Clay Cook opted to spend the next two semesters at the Atlanta School of Music. Since its beginning in 2009, the LoFi Masters has frequently been held at several Atlanta coffee shops and clubs, including Eddie’s Attic. However, Mayor eventually left the band to pursue a solo career as a vocalist and guitarist in other cities, thus this didn’t last long.

In 2008, he was nominated for five Grammys for the song “Waiting on the World to Change,” and he ended up taking home the trophy for a best pop song with vocals.
