Alexander Armstrong Biography and Career:

Alexander Armstrong is a well-known English actor, television and radio presenter, and musician. He first rose to prominence as a member of the comedy partnership known as Armstrong and Miller, which also included former comic Ben Miller. It is his hosting of the BBC quiz program Pointless, as well as the celebrity edition of the show, that brought him the most fame as a television presenter. Additional programs that he has hosted include The One Show, Have I Got News for You, and The Best of the Worst. He has also presented several other series.

After graduating from Cambridge University in 1992, Alexander Armstrong moved to London with other Cambridge graduates to pursue a career in acting and comedy. He shared a flat with Jez Butterworth, a young writer at the time.

In Notting Hill, he and his first comedy partner, David Wolstencroft, established a comedy club. Soon after, Ben Miller, a fellow Cambridge graduate, joined them there. Miller quickly became his new collaborator. It was in 1996 when Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe that they received a nomination for the “Perrier Award.” Subsequently, in 1997, they presented the comedy sketch program Armstrong and Miller on the Paramount Comedy Channel.

The following three seasons of the program were shown on Channel 4 until the year 2001. Following a brief hiatus, the two individuals reunited for the award-winning project The Armstrong & Miller program, which was produced by the BBC between the years 2007 and 2010. Acting roles include Strikja on the BBC 4 radio series Saturday Live, Prince Charming in the Christmas pantomime Cinderella on ITV, and Nick, a misanthropic and animal-hating vet on the BBC One comedy Beast. His other early achievements included appearing in several commercials, doing voiceovers for animated programs Stressed Eric and The Big Knights, and performing on BBC Radio 4’s The Very World of Milton Jones television program. As the principal actor in the drama series Life Begins (2004-2006), he also portrayed the role of John Weak, an anti-hero, in the comedy Weak at the Top (2005-2006). Additionally, he was the chairman of the board for the Best of the Worst competition on Channel 4.

From 2007 to 2009, he was the host of the show “Don’t Call Me Stupid” on ITV1. In 2008, he was also the presenter and narrator of the show “When We Were Funniest?” and he made many appearances as a guest on the show “Have I Got News for You. Both the game show Pointless, which he hosts on BBC One, and the documentary Alexander Armstrong’s Very British Holiday, which he also hosts on BBC One, were presented by Alexander Armstrong in the year 2009.
