Angeline Quinto Biography and Career:

Angeline Quinto is a Filipino singer, actor, and television personality. She was born on November 26, 1989, in the Philippines. Music critics have praised Quinto’s work for its lyrical substance and its themes of love, sorrow, and empowerment. Quinto is well-known for her wide vocal range and her soulful singing style. It has been used in the score of several movies and television shows that have been produced in the Philippines.

Quinto, born in Sampaloc in Manila, first came to public attention when he won the television talent competition Star Power in 2011. She secured a contract with Star Music and began working with composer and producer Jonathan Manalo to start recording songs for her first studio album, which she named after herself. The album was accompanied by the single “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” (“The Dream Continues”), which was released in promotion of the album.

The album was awarded the Aliw Award for Best New Artist and certified as double platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. Her subsequent studio album, Fall In Love Again (2012), included cover versions of songs from popular movies and television shows. Quinto made history when he became the first Filipino musician to record all of the songs for the soundtrack of a television program with the release of Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon (2014).

She entered the hunt for Teen Pop Star held by Magandang Tanghali Bayan in 2005 and won that season’s competition. During this time, Quinto struggled with depression and had suicidal thoughts on many occasions. She had a difficult time academically throughout high school and was adversely affected by the classmates she was with, which led to her dropping out of school.

Because of the personal conflicts within her family, she decided to vacation from singing to concentrate on improving her mental health. After taking a hiatus from music for the previous five years, Quinto decided to continue singing and participated in a talent contest on the variety show Diz Iz It! in 2010. In an interview conducted in 2019, Quinto reminisced about her time on Star Power and said she believed the program to be her last attempt at pursuing a career in the music industry.

She toyed with the idea of pursuing a profession in the culinary arts at the time because she was concerned that she would never become well-known. Following his victory on “Star Power,” Quinto was offered a recording contract with “Star Music.”She started working on her self-titled first album with composer and producer Jonathan Manalo, to whom she felt tremendous gratitude and began the project.

The album’s premiere single, “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” (which translates to “The Dream Continues”), was written by Manalo, and Quinto sang it on the season finale of Star Power. Manalo also penned one of the other songs on the album. He drew motivation from the singer’s life experience and conceptualized the Song as a “quest [for her] ultimate dreams.” On March 16, 2011, Angeline Quinto was made available to the public.

The Philippine Association of the Record Industry certified the album as having achieved double platinum status. The album earned Quinto several awards, including the Aliw Award for Best New Artist in 2011, the Star Award for Music’s New Female Recording Artist of the Year award, and the Song of the Year award for “Patuloy Ang Pangarap” (“The Dream Continues”) in 2011.
