Anne Milton Biography and Career:
Anne Milton (born 3 November 1955) was the Conservative Party’s Member of Parliament for Guildford from 6 May 2005 to 6 November 2019. She succeeded Sue Doughty and preceded Angela Richardson. Milton resigned as Minister of State for Skills and Apprenticeships on July 23, 2019, shortly before Boris Johnson was announced as the new leader of the Conservative Party. Frances Milton (née Turner; born 3 November 1955) is a British politician who was the Member of Parliament for Guildford from 2005 to 2019.
She served as Minister of State for Skills and Apprenticeships from 2017 until her resignation in July 2019. She was previously the Minister for Women. Milton was first elected as a Conservative before having the Conservative whip removed on 3 September 2019 and sitting as an independent politician.
Milton announced that she had declined an offer to appeal the removal of the Conservative whip and would run for re-election as an independent in the December 2019 general election, which she lost to Conservative Angela Richardson. Patrick and Nesta Turner gave birth to Anne Frances Turner on November 3, 1955, in Sussex, England. Haywards Heath Grammar School in West Sussex was her alma mater. She received her nursing training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and a diploma in district nursing from London South Bank University. Milton worked as a nurse for the NHS for 25 years before becoming Prime Minister of the Conservative Party.
She stated that she could not serve in a government that stated that the UK could leave the European Union without a deal. 2018 Milton resigned from the Commons Reference Group on Representation and Inclusion, chaired by Commons speaker John Bercow, on October 23, 2018, citing Bercow’s inability to address bullying and sexual harassment issues in Parliament. In the 2010 general election, Milton retained her seat and increased her majority to 7,782 votes (14 percent ).
Milton proposed in July 2010 that doctors refer to obese patients as “fat” in order to encourage them to accept responsibility for their condition. Campaigners criticized this, pointing out that a clinical definition was being replaced with a subjective, derogatory term. During the 2010-2015 parliament, Milton served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department of Health before being appointed a Government Whip (Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury).

Milton served as the Shadow Minister for Tourism from November 2006 to July 2007, and then as the Shadow Minister for Health from July 2007 to November 2010. Milton had previously stated her opposition to a partial ban, calling it “the worst possible solution.
In the 2005 general election, Milton was chosen to represent the Guildford parliamentary constituency, which the Conservatives had unexpectedly lost to the Liberal Democrat Sue Doughty in 2001, resulting in the constituency becoming marginal. She was elected as the MP for Guildford by a margin of 347 votes in the 2005 general election. 1999 Milton served as a councilor for the Borough of Reigate and Banstead from 1999 to 2004 and was the Conservative Group leader from 2000 to 2003. He was also a member of the South East England Regional Assembly.
She applied to be on the Conservative Party’s list of Parliamentary candidates in 1999 and was shortlisted in the selections for Bexhill and Battle and Bridgwater, but she was not elected in the 2001 general election. 1979 She married Neil Milton in Haywards Heath in 1979; the couple later divorced.
Her current husband, Dr. Graham Henderson, whom she married in February 2000 in Surrey, is a former Virgin Healthcare local medical director. Milton is a Surrey resident with four children, one of whom is yachtswoman Nikki Henderson.
