Brendan Gleeson Biography and Career:

Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor, director, and former teacher who has won several awards for his film industry work. He is most known for his depiction of Professor Alastor Moody (Mad-Eye) in three of the “Harry Potter” films, as well as his role as Winston Churchill in the film “Into the Storm,” for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award in 2009. Throughout his career, he has appeared in more than 90 films and has won two “British Independent Film Awards” and three “Irish Film and Television Awards.” Additionally, he has been shortlisted for the “Golden Globes” three times and the “BAFTA Awards” twice.

When he was a young boy, he studied the works of several Irish playwrights and paid careful attention to the details of the plays and dramas he watched. His big break came in 1995 when he co-starred with Mel Gibson in the blockbuster film “Braveheart.” In the movie, he portrayed Hamish Campbell, William Wallace’s (Mel Gibson) most trusted friend. The film was a huge commercial success. The enormous popularity of Braveheart led to Brendan Gleeson gaining more significant parts in subsequent films.

In the same year, he was given a role in the film “Kidnapped,” which is an action-adventure picture, and he plays the part of Colin Roy Campbell. In addition, he appeared in the historical biopic “Michael Collins,” written and directed by Neil Jordan in 1996. He did so with his longtime friend and fellow actor Liam Neeson. In the monster horror movie ‘Lake Placid’ (1999), he portrayed the part of a sheriff. He portrayed John C. McCloy, the Chief Executive Officer of ‘Biocyte,’ in one of the most successful film sequels of all time, titled “Mission: Impossible 2,” released in 2000.
