His father was a doctor in the U. S. Air Force and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Even his father worked with cattle. Both of his parents were born in the Lone Star State.

Cooper grew up in the suburbs of Kansas City, but he worked on his family’s cattle ranch about 15 miles west of Leavenworth, in the state of Kansas, during the summers. He grew up not only in Las Vegas but also in Phoenix and Houston. Cooper knew how to work with wood, so he was able to work for a Kansas City theatre group while he was in high school there. Cooper said, “I used to be a carpenter, so I could build sets, work in the wings, and change scenes in the evening.” Cooper got a job as the shop foreman for a second repertory company after he graduated from high school. He also thought about helping his father run the family cattle ranch with him.

Cooper didn’t have to fight in the Vietnam War because he was exempt from military service because he had served in the Missouri River Coast Guard. Cooper went to school at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he was involved in the theatre department and studied set design at first. Cooper decided in the middle of his sophomore year to change his major to acting in order to get over what he called his overwhelming shyness.

Cooper decided to study at the University of Missouri because he was interested in acting. In an interview with The Philadelphia Inquirer in 1996, he recalled saying, “I started going to some of the plays that the theatre department was putting on. I got involved in the theatre by taking classes and auditioning for shows.

When I started doing it, I saw results very quickly. I felt like I was doing well and at ease.” Cooper also went to Stephens College to learn how to dance there. After graduating from the University of Missouri in 1976, Cooper moved to New York City right away. Cooper lived with four other people who were trying to make it as actresses or dancers in a railroad apartment in New York. There was only one bedroom in the unit.

He made a living by making repairs and improvements to homes. Besides working in the construction industry, he also worked as a janitor and chauffeur. He was also a student of Wynn Handman and Stella Adler at the same time. Cooper had been on stage with the Actors Theater of Louisville and the Seattle Repertory for twelve years before he made his film debut in Matewan. Before this, Cooper had already made his first movie. Cooper was in a new production of Sweet Bird of Youth in London in 1985.

Bradley Cooper’s early works include the 1987 film Matewan, which was directed by John Sayles, the 1989 CBS-TV Western miniseries Lonesome Dove, the 1991 independent Western drama Thousand Pieces of Gold, and the 1992 ABC-TV docudrama Bed of Lies, in which he starred with Susan Dey. Some of the best things he did after that are listed below. In Money Train, he played a crazy pyromaniac who scares toll booth workers.

In Lone Star, he played a Texas sheriff who has to solve a case from decades ago. He also played Deputy Dwayne Looney in Joel Schumacher’s 1996 movie A Time to Kill, which was based on a John Grisham book. He played Frank Booker in 1998’s The Horse Whisperer. Cooper said he did this to get into character and “leaned on a friend who had fought in the Vietnam War. I pushed him to keep going. What would have been the best thing for him to do? What would he hang on his walls? On his desk?” Cooper played Colonel Harry Burwell in the movie The Patriot, which came out in 2000. “Lighthorse Harry” Lee was the model for Burwell. In 2003, he played John Laroche in Adaptation.

For this role, he was nominated for another Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA Award, an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and a Golden Globe Award.
