Dr Farhat Hashmi Biography and Career:
In the 1990s, a Muslim lady made the decision to undertake an important task, which was to hoist Allah’s flag as high as she could. Dr. Farhat Hashmi is a graduate of Punjab University, where she received her Master of Arts in Arabic, and the University of Glasgow, where she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Studies. But this sister, who was self-driven, furthered her schooling and expanded her horizons of knowledge. She made the decision to discuss it…with everyone in the whole planet. At the college in her hometown, Dr. Hashmi gave lectures on Arabic and Islamic Studies to classes of young women. In addition to this, she would hold halaqahs, which are similar to lectures or study circles, and invite women from a wide variety of backgrounds.
She came to the realization that Allah SWT had entrusted her with the mission of extinguishing the light and replacing it with the darkness that was plaguing our Ummah as her halaqas rose in popularity and attracted Pakistani women from a diverse range of social and economic backgrounds. Following that, Dr. Hashmi created Al-Huda International in Pakistan at two separate sites. The newly established group describes itself as “a welfare-oriented, educational, training, and research-oriented Islamic institution.” It wasn’t long after that that her method of instruction began drawing in Muslimas from the United States, England, Canada, and the Middle East who were hungry for knowledge. The Al-Huda programmes have seen more than 10,000 students successfully complete them. Students have the option of taking classes in either English or Urdu, depending on which language is most convenient for them; nevertheless, their primary focus is on learning Arabic, which is considered to be the language of Allah.
Dr. Hashmi helps Muslims broaden their perspectives on the place of women in Islam while primarily focusing on the needs of women as her clientele. Dr. Farhat works tirelessly to eradicate the cultural stereotypes projected of a woman’s position in contemporary society and replaces it with the truth and guidance that Allah SWT has revealed for us in our complete and beautiful Deen. She does this by using the Quran and the Sunnah as her ultimate sources. She cites these sources as her primary references (religion). Some people are angered when the uneducated are given the freedom of information because they lose their influence over the ignorant and weak. However, her moral and ethical teaching approaches actually altered many lives and brought about positive change. It is possible for women to have a deeper spiritual relationship with their Rabb when they are encouraged to pursue an education (Lord).
Dr. Farhat encourages her pupils to pause and reflect on the meaning of their lives at regular intervals while she is educating them. What are we doing this for? Our instruction book for this life, the Quran, also includes a warning that there is a hereafter. On the Day of Judgment, the worldly pursuits of materialism and love of this world will not serve us well. Image the prize that Allah SWT will bestow upon her when each of her pupils brings about positive change in their own lives; if one lady can awaken thousands of Muslims to the fact that our lives have a purpose, then imagine the reward that Allah SWT will bestow upon her.I feel that Dr. Faraht Hashmi is one of the most significant Muslim women personalities in modern times. The reason for her success and recognition is that she continues to place Allah as the primary focus of her life. Gains in this world are not the best indicator of success; rather, the amount of work done to prepare for the next life is (Hereafter).
Dr. Hashmi has made a significant worldwide contribution to the Ummah by facilitating the attainment of spiritual fulfilment and fostering the development of leaders who will carry on the mission of spreading Islam to the furthest reaches of the globe. During a sermon, a woman asked Hashmi what a wife should do if her husband was unwilling to help her destitute parents. In response, Hashmi immediately cited An-Nisa, 34 (Chapter Al Nisa, verse 34) of the Quran, arguing that the wife should comply with her husband’s wishes, “no matter what, as he was her divinely appointed imam.” Hashmi has advocated that Muslim women should let their husbands to marry a second time so that “other sisters might also profit from it.” This prevents males from engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage, which is a violation of the law according to the Quran.
Hashmi has also taught that women have a number of rights that men do not, and that men have a number of responsibilities that they must fulfil toward women. Hashmi teaches that it is the role of men to provide financially for their spouses, and that women should not be obliged to work for a livelihood. Hashmi believes that this is an unfair expectation to place on women. Hashmi asserts that women may touch and recite the Quran during their menstrual periods as long as they wear gloves while doing so (whether they are studying the Quran from a teacher or teaching it to others). This practice has always been seen as inappropriate by certain individuals. Her point of view is shared by other academics, who agree with her. Hashmi encourages her followers, who are predominantly well-to-do Pakistani women, to interpret the Qur’an for themselves and to support their interpretations with strong evidence. However, her detractors argue that “Hashmi’s talks Centre around personal and family development, rather than community service,” which prevents her followers from employing their knowledge to improve their social conditions.
