Macy in David Mamet’s “Edmond.”
Reflections on Psych (2006) co-star James Roday Rodriguez: On the off chance that we ever need to work together, we have chemistry. In the long run, I just don’t see how it could work. We share a passion for comedy, and I believe that spirit comes out on screen. The fact that we have employed is something for which we may give thanks.
On his character Gus from the TV show Psych (2006): “It’s good to have a character who has all this knowledge, especially an African American character; he’s a really brilliant man, but at the same time, he’s kind of groovy… As a result, brains are in and dunces are out. To make the voyage more interesting, I propose that we have the protagonist split their time evenly between the two settings. As an actor, I’ve discovered that the simpler a task is at the outset, the more likely it is that its solution will prove effective in the long run.
I don’t think that was due to my acting skills. The observation of actors like John Spencer and Martin Sheen led to this conclusion. I was able to sit back and take it all in. The hardest part has been striking a balance between having Gus too dorky and making him too hip. This is the only location I care about because Gus is a nerd. Honestly, I believe that both traits can be found in the majority of people. As far as I can tell, that’s where all the action is. It’s entertaining to me to pretend to be cool when one is not actually cool.
Even though I haven’t played soccer competitively since my freshman year of high school, it is a sport enjoyed by many members of my family, so I jumped at the chance to come out here and pretend I was a professional for a day.
