Jacqueline Bisset Biography and Career:

Winifred Jacqueline Fraser Bisset LdH, a British actress, was born on September 13, 1944. Her full name is Winifred Jacqueline Fraser Bisset. She made her film debut in 1965 but did not become well known until 1968, when she appeared in The Detective, Bullitt, and The Sweet Ride. For her work in those films, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the category of Most Promising Newcomer.

In the 1970s, she starred in Airport (1970), The Mephisto Waltz (1971), Day for Night (1973), which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, Le Magnifique (1973), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), St. Ives (1976), The Deep (1977), The Greek Tycoon (1978) and Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? (1978), which earned her a Golden Globe nomination as Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.

Other film and television roles for which Bisset is known include Rich and Famous (1981), Class (1983), her role in Under the Volcano (1984), for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe; her role in Forbidden (1985), for which she was nominated for a CableACE Award; Scenes from the Class Struggle in Beverly Hills (1989); Wild Orchid (1990); La Cérémonie (1995); Dangerous Beauty (1998); and Britannic (2000).

The Sleepy Time Gal (2001), Domino (2005), a guest arc in the fourth season of Nip/Tuck (2006), Death in Love (2008), and the BBC miniseries Dancing on the Edge (2013), for which she earned a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film, were some of the films and television shows in which she has appeared. In the film Two for the Road, starring Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney, Jacqueline Bisset debuted as a lady in whom Finney’s character has a love interest. This was Bisset’s first role of any significance. The film was produced by 20th Century Fox, which led to the signing of a contract by the actress. Bisset had a breakout year in 1969, starring in The First Time and Secret World. In the latter film, she played a blonde character. In the catastrophe movie Airport, released in 1970, Bisset played the part of a pregnant stewardess carrying Dean Martin’s love child. She was one of the many stars in the film.

It was a smashing success. Bisset had another leading role in the film The Grasshopper (1970), which was not very well received, and she starred with Alan Alda in the film The Mephisto Waltz (1971). In the 1972 comedy Stand Up and Be Counted, she played the leading role and reunited with her real-life lover Michael Sarrazin, with whom she had worked before in the romantic drama Believe in Me, in which she portrayed a drug addict.
