Jeremy Lin Biography and Career:

Jeremy Lin is a professional basketball player who is not only Chinese but also American. He is one of the few Asian-American basketball players in the United States who plays in the big leagues. In the history of the National Basketball Association (NBA), he is the first player of Chinese descent to ever compete at the professional level in the sport of basketball. It is well known that he leads a simple lifestyle, that he is passionate about God, and that he has strong relationships with his family.

Additionally, he was included in the list of the 100 most important people in the world that was published by Time magazine in the year 2012. According to Lin Gie-Ming and Shirley Lin, Jeremy was born on August 23, 1988, in Torrance, which is located in Los Angeles County, United States. Palo Alto, which is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, was his home when he was growing up. In addition to his younger brother, Joseph, he also has an older brother named Josh.

To pursue further education, his parents made the migration from Taiwan to the United States. They first established their home in Virginia, then moved to Indiana, and eventually made their home in California. Originally hailing from the province of Fujian in South China, his father’s family eventually made their home in Beidou, Taiwan. They moved to Taiwan in the late 1940s from Pinghu, which is located on the east coast of China. His mother’s family is originally from Pinghu. His parents are nationals of both the United States of America and Taiwan.

Jeremy was brought up in a religious setting since his parents are both devoted followers of the Christian faith. The game of basketball was something that his father taught him and his siblings to play. As time went on, Jeremy developed a strong interest in the game. Early on, his parents were able to see his skills. To cultivate his skills, his mother made the decision. On top of that, she wanted to help him find a way to combine his passion for basketball with his academic pursuits.

Because of this, he thrived in both the academic world and the world of football. At his high school, he served as the editor of the school newspaper. As an additional position, he served as an intern for Senator Joe Simitian of California. At ‘Palo Alto High School,’ he served as the team’s captain for the basketball roster. He led his school team to win the state title championship of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division II during the 2005–2006 season, unseating the favorites and the nationally rated basketball team known as “Mater Dei.” Additionally, he guided his school team to victory.

The accomplishments he achieved in high school basketball earned him the title of “All-State and Northern California Division II Player of the Year.” He finished his senior year with an average of 15.1 points, 7.1 assists, 6.2 rebounds, and 5.0 steals. He accomplished all of these things. To improve his chances of being accepted into a university, he sent his curriculum vitae and a DVD containing highlights from his high school basketball games to all of the universities to which he had applied. These universities included Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

In addition to obtaining a sports scholarship, he had his sights set on attending either Stanford University or the University of California, Los Angeles. For some inexplicable reason, the majority of the educational institutions that provided the opportunity to get a scholarship for athletics did not provide him with any award. Instead, they granted him regular admission, which meant that there was no possibility of his being considered for a spot on the university teams.

On the other hand, two colleges that are considered to be part of the Ivy League, namely Harvard University and Brown University, made him an offer of guaranteed berths on their respective university basketball teams. During his sophomore year, he was considered for inclusion on the “All-Ivy League Second Team.” He went on to enroll at Harvard. He was the only men’s basketball player in the ‘NCAA Division I’ who finished in the top ten of his region’s sports conference during his junior year of university.

The ‘All-Ivy League First Team’ decided to include him on their roster during his final year of high school. His career as a basketball player at the collegiate level culminated with his being the only player in the history of the ‘Ivy League’ to finish with 1,483 points, 487 rebounds, 406 assists, and 225 steals during his whole basketball career. He received a degree in economics from ‘Harvard’ in 2010 while maintaining a grade point average of 3.1 during his time there.

No club selected him in the 2010 NBA draft, even though he had an outstanding record. A proposal from the Dallas Mavericks to participate in the NBA Summer League championship over the offseason was the finest offer he could obtain from the team. Following the conclusion of his time while playing for the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA Summer League, he received offers from several other organizations.

Even though he had better offers from other big clubs, he decided to play for the ‘Golden State Warriors,’ a team situated in the San Francisco Bay Area, since he wanted to play his first major basketball league in or near his hometown. On July 21, 2010, he signed a deal with the ‘Warriors’ that was for two years. Additionally, he inked a deal with ‘Nike’ for an endorsement term of three years.
