A big thank you goes to BAFTA for giving us the award. A big thanks to Zinc Media for making this possible. Thank you to the young actors who played our Suffragettes so well. I think we’ve all been left with a sense of unfinished business. We’ve had a lot of fun making this show! If you saw them, they were people dressed as Suffragettes with signs that said, “It’s been 100 years, and it’s still not that great.” They were our favourite people at last year’s Women’s March. Yes! She said that if she were in charge of the future, Lucy Worsley would put women in charge of money so that war wouldn’t happen and more money would be spent on education. Good Housekeeping is celebrating its 100th birthday, and a British TV host, 48, talked about how women’s lives have changed over the last 100 years.

She looked at the history and how things have changed since then. The joint Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces also said it was “unthinkable” that women had to give up their jobs when they got married in the 1920s. She said that would have “bothered” her.
With regard to how things should change for women, she said: “I would put women in charge of the world’s money. I think we should spend less on war and more on education.”

In response to the fact that women didn’t have many choices 100 years ago, Lucy said: “People were worried about me working.” Women used to have to give up their jobs when they got married. It’s hard to believe. The fact that I don’t have a vote or don’t have birth control would bother me. In 100 years, things have really changed. In movies, we think we know the 1920s because we’ve seen them. But people had a very different way of thinking back then.
When Lucy saw that women had more choices in life, she thought it was a good thing. She thought it wasn’t going far enough, though.

So, the historian said, “It’s just fun and interesting, and you can be nosy about other people’s lives. I love history because it’s so interesting.” You can see that some things are going to get better in the long run, and it also helps if you look for things that might be going backwards. History gives us hope for the future because we know that things don’t have to be the way they are.

Lucy is in a new show for BBC Two called Lucy Worsley Investigates. It looks at four different historical events through the eyes of someone who was there. There are stories about a woman who was accused of witchcraft in the Scottish witch hunt of the 1590s. She ended up being garroted and then burned at the stake in Edinburgh, Scotland.
