Martika Biography and Career:
Marta Marrero, best known by her stage name Martika, is an American pop singer and actress. She was born on May 18, 1969, and her stage name is Martika. Between the late 1980s and the early 1990s, she recorded two albums that were very popular on a global scale, with each album selling more than four million copies around the globe. In the middle of 1989, her song “Toy Soldiers” became her most successful single, reaching number one on the American chart for a total of two weeks.
Additionally, she is well-known for her role as Gloria on the television show Kids Incorporated. Her first part in the mainstream entertainment industry was in the 1982 film Annie, in which she played one of the girls without receiving any credit for her performance. Her performance as Gloria on the long-running children’s program Kids Incorporated, in which she is one of a group of neighborhood youngsters who ascend to local renown by performing staged performances at a corner malt shop, was a direct result of this.

Martika’s agency urged her to combine her passion for cinema and music by composing soundtracks. In 1990, she penned and recorded the song “Blue Eyes Are Sensitive to the Light” for the soundtrack of the film Arachnophobia. Additionally, Martika was able to merge her love of music with movies. Her voice was not to the liking of the producers of the album, which is why Sara Hickman re-recorded the song for the movie.
Elba Ramalho, Frances Ruffelle, and Deborah Blando, all of whom are Brazilian singers, have all sung the song.
