Morgan Fairchild Biography and Career:

Morgan Fairchild is a well-known American actress born in the United States on February 3, 1950. She made her acting debut in the early 1970s and has since been in many television programs in various roles. Fairchild got her start in the entertainment industry with the part of Jennifer Pace on the daytime serial opera Search for Tomorrow, which aired on CBS from 1973 through 1977.

After making her debut on the primetime serial opera Dallas in 1978 as the first actress to play Jenna Wade, she went on to take the leading role in the NBC series Flamingo Road in 1980. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in the Best Actress category in a Television Series Drama for her performance in that role. In 1984, she had a recurring role in the short-lived television drama Paper Dolls, which aired on ABC. The following year, she was attorney Jordan Roberts on Falcon Crest from 1985 to 1986.

In addition to her work in film and television, Fairchild has acted on stage and has had recurring or guest-starring parts in several comedies on television, such as Murphy Brown (for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series), Two and a Half Men, Roseanne, Cybill, and Friends. She is a member of the SAG-AFTRA board of directors.

The first acting job that Fairchild ever had was as a double for Faye Dunaway in the film Bonnie and Clyde (1967), namely in sequences in which Bonnie is driving a vehicle. This was necessary since Dunaway could not drive a manual shift, so Fairchild filled in for her in those parts. She changed her first name to Morgan after seeing the 1966 film Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment, which David Warner directed.

After that, Fairchild relocated to New York City, where she landed her first credited on-screen role as the deranged Jennifer Pace in the daytime serial opera Search for Tomorrow, which ran from 1973 through 1977. Fairchild played the part from 1973 until 1977. Beginning in the middle of the 1970s, she started appearing in various prime-time television shows, including Kojak, Happy Days, The Bob Newhart Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Police Woman, and a few CBS Radio Mystery Theater episodes.

In 1978, Fairchild appeared in the soap opera Dallas for one episode, playing the role of Jenna Wade. In the same year, Fairchild starred in the comedy Mork & Mindy and in the television feature The Initiation of Sarah, both of which were produced for television. In 1980, she was cast as Constance Weldon Carlyle, a recurring character, in Flamingo Road’s serial opera. This was her first job in primetime.

Even though the series got off to a strong start in ratings, it was canceled after two seasons due to its declining popularity. As a result of her performance, Fairchild was considered for a nomination for a Golden Globe Award. Fairchild made guest appearances in several episodes after the show Flamingo Road was canceled, including Hotel, Magnum, P.I., Simon & Simon, and The Love Boat.

In addition, she had a role in the feature film The Seduction (1982), which was released in theaters. She was one of the co-hosts of the one-hour variety program Blondes vs. Brunettes, which aired on ABC-TV in 1984. The show gently poked fun at the blonde vs. brunette rivalry prevalent in popular culture. Joan Collins was the other co-host. In the same year, she also had a recurring role as the owner of a modeling agency in the primetime serial opera Paper Dolls, which she played that year.

Even though the show was canceled in the middle of its first season, Fairchild had already established herself as a successful television actor. In 1985, she became a member of the cast of the soap opera Falcon Crest, in which she portrayed the dazzling attorney Jordan Roberts for one season. In addition, she had a role in the miniseries North and South (1985) and its subsequent installment (1986).

In 1985, Jon Lovitz debuted his character “Tommy Flanagan, The Pathological Liar” on Saturday Night Live. Tommy Flanagan was a man who exaggerated his accomplishments, ending in the big delusion that his wife was Morgan Fairchild. The fact that such a scenario was improbable and its widespread appeal as a comedic device was evidence of Fairchild’s immense fame and desirability.

Throughout the 1980s, Fairchild continued to act in films and television programs, and 1989, she was nominated for an Emmy Award for a guest role that she played in an episode of the show Murphy Brown. She was cast as Sandra Bernhardt’s bisexual lover, Marla, on Roseanne in the early 1990s and had regular appearances throughout that decade.

In 1994, Fairchild appeared in an advertising campaign for the clothing company Old Navy that was somewhat campy. Fairchild was included in the campaign along with Joan Collins and other once-recognizable names on television. Since her previous performance as the over-the-top glamour vixen was so well received, the production company decided to base several subsequent films around her character.
