Nicola Roberts Biography and Career:

Nicola Roberts is an English singer and songwriter who rose to prominence after appearing on the ITV reality talent program Popstars: The Rivals. This show was responsible for forming the female pop group Girls Aloud and was hosted by Simon Cowell. Nicola Roberts had a significant amount of success while performing with Girls Aloud. The band issued five studio albums and charted twenty songs, reaching number one on the UK Top Ten Singles list.

After seven years of working together, the band broke up so that each member could concentrate on their profession (they briefly reunited later but split again eventually). During this period, Roberts developed her cosmetics business and released her highly acclaimed solo album Cinderella’s Eyes. Both endeavors received widespread praise from music critics. In addition to this, she was included in a BBC documentary titled Nicola Roberts: The Truth About Tanning, in which she pushed (together with British MP Julia Morgan) for the prohibition of tanning beds for anyone under the age of 18.

In addition to writing lyrics for her own record, she contributed to the albums of both Little Mix and Cheryl Ann Tweedy and songs for Cheryl Ann Tweedy. In 2020, she crowned the winner of the reality competition The Masked Singer UK, which was broadcast on ITV, and she was offered a starring part in the West End production of the musical comedy City of Angels. Nicola Roberts was born on October 5th, 1985, in Stamford, Lincolnshire. However, she spent most of her childhood in the town of Runcorn, Cheshire. Frankie, the youngest of her sisters, and Harrison and Clayton, both the youngest of her brothers, are her sisters’ younger siblings.

Only seventeen years old when she was born, her mother was a teenager when she gave birth to her. Her father had a career with the Royal Air Force, but he left that position to work for Ford Motor Company to better the family’s financial situation. Her mother started working in the photography industry for the same reason as she did. Nicola attended St. Chad’s High School and was a strong student there; despite this, she was not interested in her academic pursuits.

Instead, her passion centered on music from the beginning of her life. She decided to pursue her passion for the performing arts by enrolling in the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. In addition to that, she started going to auditions and competed in several other events. At the beginning of their career, Nicola Roberts led her female band, which she called The 5 Musketeers, and they played at a local disco. When Nicola was 16, she tried out for the ITV reality talent program Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. Initially, she could not reach the top ten; however, when another competitor, Nicola Ward, was eliminated, she was invited to return as a wild card participant.

In the end, she was selected to become a member of the band known as Girls Aloud, making her the second participant. Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, and Cheryl Cole were the group’s other members in addition to Cheryl Cole. Because the band’s first song, “Sound of the Underground,” debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart, Polydor Record offered them a recording contract shortly after the single’s release.

Sound of the Underground (2003), What Will the Neighbours Say? (2004), Chemistry (2005), Tangled Up (2007), and Out of Control (2009) were the five studio albums that Nicola and the group produced between 2003 and 2009. Each of these albums was awarded the platinum certification. During that period, the band had 20 straight singles in the top 10 in the UK, including four number one, in addition to two albums that were number one in the UK. In addition, they took home the Brit Award for “Best British Single” for “The Promise.”

By May 2009, the group had amassed a combined worth of 25 million pounds and had established itself as one of the most successful reality television acts. In addition, it achieved two records that were recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records: the first was for the Most Successful Reality Television Group, and the second was for the Most Consecutive Top Ten Entries in the UK by a female group.

After completing Girls Aloud’s “Out of Control” tour in July 2009, the band members decided to pursue separate careers and broke up with the band. As part of the documentary television series The Passions of… Girls Aloud, which aired on ITV2 in 2008, Nicola Roberts introduced a new cosmetics brand, Dainty Doll, designed specifically for young women with fair complexion. Nicola Roberts has fair skin and red hair, so in the beginning, when she tried to seem more appealing, she would deepen her skin tone using fake tan.

It was in 2010 that she made her debut in the investigative documentary Nicola Roberts: The Truth About Tanning, which was shown on BBC Three. In the show, she investigated the tradition of tanning in the UK. In it, she explained the dangers of using tanning beds and described her experience with faking a tan with self-tanning products. Alongside another member of the National Assembly for Wales, Julie Morgan, she supported a measure that prohibited those under 18 from using tanning beds.

The beat of My Drum was her first solo song, which she released in June 2011, and Lucky Day was her second solo single, which she released in September 2011. Both singles were well received by critics, with the first reaching its highest place in the UK charts at number 27 and the second reaching its highest position at number 40. Cinderella’s Eyes, her first album under her name, was released in September of 2011. The album was met with favorable reviews from music reviewers and reached position number 17 on the album chart in the UK.

It contained the well-received song “Sticks and Stones,” which was about her being bullied, and it dealt with the subject (she was bullied for her looks and red hair and was called the ugly one). The third single, “Yo-Yo,” was met with more praise from reviewers but was unsuccessful financially. In the television show Styled To Rock aired on Sky Living in 2012, she participated as both a judge and a coach. The recording artist Rihanna served as an executive producer for the competition reality show, which featured fashion designers competing against one another to design the greatest clothes for a different musical act each week.

She collaborated with other songwriters to produce the song “Going Nowhere” for the first studio album of the British girl group Little Mix (created in 2011). Something New was first made available to the public by the Girls Aloud band in November 2012. The song, the official charity record for Children in Need, has gone all the way up to the number two place on the UK Singles Chart. Later on in the same month, the band celebrated their tenth year in the music business by releasing their second greatest hits collection titled Ten.
