Wolfgang Bodison Biography and Career:

Wolfgang Bodison is an American actor born on November 19, 1966. He is most known for his role as Lance Cpl. Harold W. Dawson in the drama film A Few Good Men, was released in 1992. The National Institutes of Health is where his mother, Dorothea Bodison, is employed. His father was killed in a vehicle accident as a little boy.

In 1988, he received his degree in fine arts from the University of Virginia, located in Charlottesville, Virginia. While there, he was a football team member known as the Virginia Cavaliers and obtained his degree. After receiving his degree, Bodison sought employment at Columbia Pictures, where he worked as a file clerk. Following his success there, in 1989, he was offered a position working in the mail department at Castle Rock Entertainment.

On the Misery (1990) set, director Rob Reiner used Bodison as a personal assistant. Bodison, who aspired to become a screenwriter and film director then, often took notes on Reiner’s directing style. Bodison was also acknowledged as the picture-car coordinator for the film Boyz n the Hood (1991), which John Singleton directed.

It was my responsibility to visit South Central and try to pique the interest of several local car clubs in the film,” Bodison said. Initially, Reiner appointed Bodison as site manager for the 1992 film A Few Good Men. However, Reiner needed helping an actor to play the part of Lance Cpl: Harold Dawson, a young Marine, was under trial for the death of a private.

While conversing, he turned to me and said, “Wolf, have you ever acted?” Bodison stated. “I answered, ‘No, dude.’ He said, “Have you ever given it any thought?” I responded, “No.” He said, “Well, I’m trying to cast the movie, and I haven’t found anyone for Dawson who fits my vision.” He was referring to the role of Dawson. Why don’t you prepare by reading for the exam?'” Because Bodison had no prior acting experience, he decided to work with acting teacher Julie Ariola. Ariola says, “He is a very creative and intelligent kid.” “He was like a sponge. He was open to all of our suggestions.

In August of 1991, after Bodison was audited, he was given another opportunity to read the script. After three days, Wolf recounted, “I stopped at a pay phone, called Rob, and he said, ‘Wolf, welcome to the movie business.'” Rob had congratulated Wolf on his new career. Bodison stated. “Man, I came dangerously close to dropping the phone. When asked about Bodison landing what would become his most well-known part, Ariola said, “I wasn’t the least bit surprised he got the job.”

Rita Kempley, a film reviewer for The Washington Post, referred to Bodison as an “impressive non-actor” in her movie review. The Hartford Courant film reviewer Malcolm Johnson used the words “fierce” and “devoted” to characterize him in his review. David Gritten published an article for the Los Angeles Times where he said that Bodison “played it from the heart and gut.” I’ve never seen somebody communicate hatred with just one glance before, yet he manages to do it effortlessly. He was very skilled at expressing nuanced feelings with tiny words being said. You were well aware of how he was feeling.”

A review published in The Fresh York Times by film reviewer Vincent Canby said, “Mr. Bodison, a new young actor whose performance as the more prominent defendant gives the film its melancholy shock value.”Little Big League (1994), The Expert (1995), Freeway (1996), Goodbye America (1997), Most Wanted (1997), Joe Somebody (2001), Akeelah and the Bee (2006), and Legacy (2010) are some of the other movies in which Bodison has featured.

Television credentials include recurrent parts on Nothing Sacred and Family Law and guest-star appearances on blockbuster series such as Highlander: The Series, CSI: NY, CSI: Miami, NCIS, Cane, ER, and Perception. Other television credits include a variety of different guest-starring roles. Bodison fulfilled his dream of becoming a screenwriter and director by writing and directing the short films Simone, Broken, Sarah’s Wish, and The Long Wait. All of these films have been shown at major festivals all over the globe.

In the latter picture, he also had a starring role, and Elizabeth Yoder, with whom he had previously worked at Playhouse West in Los Angeles, was one of his co-stars. Yoder reflects, “Working with Wolfgang was an incredible experience.” “He made the process of writing much more straightforward. What we had in common was an awareness of the potentially catastrophic effects of these unresolved feelings, mainly when seen through the prism of childhood.

It has been a very therapeutic experience after my 24-year-long search for consolation, comprehension, and atonement. At the 2014 Laughlin International Film Festival, Bodison and Yoder were jointly awarded the Storytelling Achievement Award. “It’s a story about forgiveness,” comments Bodison on the book’s plot. “Because it is both my job as a writer and as a director to tell a great story, winning the Storytelling Award means a lot to me.” This honor represents a significant milestone in my professional and academic career.

Bodison also took up the prize for Best Director at the Playhouse West Film Festival, in addition to two further wins at the 2014 Beaufort International Film Festival for Best Actor and Best Short Film.
Ragamuffin was an indie film that he featured in that was released in 2014.
