Cornelia Jakobs Biography and Career:

Cornelia Jakobs is the stage name of Swedish musician Anna Cornelia Jakobsdotter Samuelsson, born on March 9, 1992. Cornelia Jakobs is also her professional name. She competed on behalf of Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Hold Me Closer,” which earned a fourth-place finish.

Cornelia Jakobsdotter was raised in Stockholm after being born in the Nacka Municipality in Stockholm County. She is the daughter of Jakob Samuel, vocalist for the band Poodles, and Fia Lonnborn, and she made her debut in the music industry by trying out for American Idol in 2008. After being insulted by the judges on the show, she garnered some media attention.

She began her career in music as a member of the female group Love Generation, who competed in the Melodifestivalen competition in 2011 and 2012. The song “Dance Alone” by Love Generation, released in 2011, reached its highest position on the Sverigetopplistan at number 26. In 2020, Jakobs wrote and performed “Weight of the World,” which became the theme song for the Nordic television series Bjornstad on HBO Nordic.

She submitted her song “Best of Me” to the Melodifestivalen 2021 competition as a composer, and Efraim Leo was the performer of her music. Jakobs debuted as a solo artist in 2022 and competed in Melodifestivalen 2022 with the theme “Hold Me Closer.” The song made it to the final round of competition and ultimately won with 146 points, allowing Jakobs to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.

She scored 438 points throughout the competition and came in fourth place overall. During the intermission of the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023, Jakobs was one of the singers who took the stage. She sang a rendition of “I Turn to You” by Melanie C as part of a section that honored Liverpool as the host city’s contribution to the genre of pop music.

Need You Now, which was published by Jakobs on July 28th, 2023, was the album in which she ultimately disclosed that she has ADHD. Since 2013, the fan site dedicated to Eurovision, Eurovoix, has been running a competition called The Euro Jury. It is a competition in which musicians from all over Europe and Australia get together to form juries and cast votes on the songs in question; these votes are then added to those released by the general audience.

Both “Toy” and “Arcade,” the songs that won Eurovision in 2018 and 2019, respectively, have previously won the Euro Jury competition. The competition does have a good track record of correctly identifying songs that would get high scores from the jury. The year before, the winner of The Euro Jury was Destiny from Malta. She came in first place in the jury vote for the semi-final performance, and then she came in third place in the jury vote for the Eurovision Grand Final performance.

The song “Hold Me Closer” by Jakobs, who competed in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and came in fourth place, won both the Swedish Song of the Year and the award for Breakthrough Artist. Jakobs also won both of these awards. Cornelia performed her hit entry for Eurovision at the awards event, which took place in Gustav Adolfs Torg in the middle of Stockholm. The audience consisted of admirers who had gathered for the concert.

Cornelia was not the only Eurovision artist to win big at the event; Benjamin Ingrosso’s persistent popularity in Sweden saw him voted Male Artist of the Year for the fourth time, and his fans earned the Fans of the Year award. Cornelia won the Grand Prize for her performance in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Additional performances were given during the awards presentation that was organized once again on an annual basis by Aftonbladet. These performances were given by A36, Newkid, Omar, and the Melodifestivalen artist Klara Hammarstrom, who has appeared in previous years.

Even though we are officially in the Eurovision 2023 season, it will be some time before we hear any of the songs competing in the national finals or at Eurovision. We may take comfort in the fact that the music will never stop, and many of the musicians that participated in Eurovision are still creating new music for us to enjoy. Throughout her summer concert tour around Europe, Cornelia Jakobs has been giving performances of her song “Rise.” Everyone may hear the music, and everyone now that it has been uploaded to streaming sites.

During the height of the coronavirus epidemic, the Eurovision Song Contest could not take place for the first time in history. This left fans heartbroken. But the worldwide tournament was revived with a flourish the year before last, and competitors converged in Rotterdam, located in the center of the Netherlands.

The 66th annual Eurovision Song Contest will take place in 2022, and fans in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the competition live on BBC One on Saturday, May 14, beginning at 8:00 p.m. However, supporters are interested in learning more about Sweden’s participation. Cornelia Jakobs, a singer-songwriter in Stockholm, will represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
