DJ Envy Biography and Career:
Originally from New York, DJ Envy is a well-known radio and television personality, as well as a long-time mixtape distributor and producer, among other things. Having been mentored by his fellow Queens native DJ Clue?, he has released numerous mixtapes and made his commercial debut with the album The Desert Storm Mixtape: DJ Envy – Blok Party, Vol. 1 (2003, Columbia Records).

RaaShaun Casey, better known as DJ Envy, began mixing after meeting DJ Clue? in the early 1990s. His rapid rise was aided by the release of numerous mixtapes, and by the early 2000s, Envy was selling the latest exclusives and freestyles from well-known rappers such as Jay-Z, 50 Cent, and The LOX. It was Envy’s production work that was featured on albums such as Ghetto Fabolous by Fabolous and Broken Silence by Foxy Brown that made him famous.
Envy has mixed or co-hosted a number of shows on the popular New York radio stations Hot 97 and Power 105, among others. It was in 2010 that he began co-hosting the daily morning show The Breakfast Club with Angela Yee and Charlemagne Tha God, and it was subsequently named the best radio program by The Source. The Breakfast Club was then broadcast nationally in 2013.
As a producer, Envy has remained active since the mid-2010s, releasing a slew of singles including collaborations with Rico Love (2015’s “Still a Fan”), DJ Sliink and Fetty Wap (2017’s “Text Ur Number”), Yo Gotti and 2 Chainz (2017’s “Still a Fan”), and Yo Gotti and 2 Chainz (2017’s “Text Ur Number”) (a 2018 remix of “Hardaway”). Envy and his Breakfast Club co-hosts will be inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in August of 2020, according to a press release. “Sittin in My Car,” which he collaborated on with Fabolous and A Boogie with da Hoodie, was released the following month.
