Marla Heasley Biography and Career:

Marla Heasley is an American film and television actress born in Hollywood, California, on September 4, 1959. She is most known for her performance as Tawnia Baker in the popular television series The A-Team, which aired in the 1980s. Tawnia Baker, a newspaper writer member of the team, was given the part that Heasley was set to play.

The character was brought in as a substitute for Melinda Culea (Amy Allen), who was unexpectedly ousted from the series after demanding more to do. The feeling was introduced in season 2, episode 15, “The Battle of Bel-Air,” and was brought in as a replacement for Melinda Culea.

For the character to be removed from the show, the wedding in the two-part episode 2/3 of season 3, “The Bend in the River,” served as the catalyst. Her father put her in contact with Norman Brokaw of the William Morris Agency to facilitate her participation in advertisements.

During an audition for a commercial, she made the acquaintance of an acting teacher named Zina Provendie. Provendie extended an invitation to Heasley to see one of her classes. Brokaw said he had a gut feeling about Heasley, even though she had never been in front of the camera. He waited to send Heasley out on auditions until she was ready, and Norman waited patiently.

Heasley committed herself fully to her education by actively enrolling in acting lessons, signing up for a role in a repertory theater, and relocating to New York for a whole year to work with an acting coach. She began her career by appearing in advertisements, and her first job on television was in an episode of “Can You Hear the Laughter? The Life and Times of Freddie Prinze”

After dating since 1992, Heasley eventually tied the knot with multinational business mogul Christopher Harriman in 2001.
