Stephen Strasburg Biography and Career:
Stephen James Strasburg is a professional American baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on July 20, 1988, in the United States. In the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, Washington used the first choice in the draft to choose Strasburg. This made him the overall first pick. His first season in the big leagues was in 2010, and he has since been selected for the All-Star Game three times.
Strasburg was a collegiate baseball player for the San Diego State Aztecs. He played high school baseball at West Hills High School, where he was known for his potential but not his polish. There, he developed into one of the most accomplished pitchers in the history of college baseball in the United States. At the Summer Olympics in 2008, Strasburg was a United States national baseball team member and pitched for them, helping them earn the bronze medal.

When Strasburg was a sophomore in 2008, he was moved up to the starting rotation and given the responsibility of throwing every pitch. In 98 and one-third innings pitched, he had 134 strikeouts and a 1.58 earned run average (ERA).In 2008, he made thirteen starts, and four of those games were complete victories, including two shutouts.
In a game that he pitched on April 11 of that year against the University of Utah, he set a record for the Mountain West Conference by striking out 23 hitters. In his junior year, the 2009 season, Strasburg ended the year with a record of 13–1, a 1.32 earned run average, 59 hits allowed, 16 earned runs, 19 walks, and 195 strikeouts in 109 innings thrown.
On May 8, 2009, during Strasburg’s last home start, he hurled his first career no-hitter while striking out 17 Air Force Falcons hitters. Even though his team was eliminated from the NCAA Regionals by the Virginia Cavaliers, who went on to win the tournament and earn a spot in the College World Series, he still managed to strike out 15 batters throughout seven innings. The Dick Howser Trophy and the National Pitcher of the Year Award were presented to him after his victory.
