Stevie Nicks Biography and Career:

Stephanie ‘Stevie’ Lynn Nicks is a vocalist and songwriter best known for her work with the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac is a band that combines elements of both rock and roll. As soon as she joined the band in 1975, she began making positive contributions to the band’s success. After she had joined the band, she released her second album, titled “Rumours,” which went on to win the “Grammy Award for Album of the Year” and was ultimately certified “2 Diamond” by the “Recording Industry Association of America” (RIAA). She went on to make history with this record.

She decided solo career after enjoying a very successful run with the band. Within a few short months of its release, her first solo album, “Bella Donna,” reached number one on the “U.S. Billboard” album list and was often certified platinum. Nicks was recognized as a successful solo artist with the release of her second album, “The Wild Heart,” which also achieved platinum status. She encouraged her numerous friends, many musicians who worked in the music business, to contribute to the music on her CDs.

Her subsequent album, “Rock a Little,” was a tremendous commercial success and certified platinum, much like her earlier albums. Nevertheless, the strain of working so hard took a toll on both her mental and physical health, and as a result, she developed a problem with drug addiction. The gifted vocalist put in a lot of effort to kick her habit of drugs and ultimately set this difficult period of her life in the past.

She is credited with producing more than 40 ‘Top 50’ singles, and she has sold more than 140 million records. She is a prolific performer. Stevie Nicks was born on May 26, 1948, in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, to Jess Nicks, a business executive, and Barbara Nicks. Her father was the first name of the singer. She was raised in a large family, and her guitar-playing and singing skills were passed down to her by her music-loving grandpa. Because of the nature of her father’s business, her family relocated rather often, and she spent her youth in Phoenix, El Paso, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles, among other places.

She celebrated her 16th birthday by receiving a guitar, and she used that instrument to spend her teenage years composing songs and playing guitar. She first attended ‘Arcadia High School’ and then moved on to ‘Menlo Atherton High School,’ where she became acquainted with her future business partner, Lindsey Buckingham. She went to ‘San Jose State University’ and majored in voice communication there. 1968 she decided to pursue a music career instead of attending school.

Her buddy Lindsey Buckingham and Javier Pacheco, and Calvin Roper had just established a band named “Fritz,” and they urged her to join. In 1968, she joined the band, and that same year, they gave live performances, serving as an opening act for well-known performers such as Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin. ‘Fritz’ dissolved in 1972. In 1975, Nicks and Buckingham became members of Fleetwood Mac, which Mick Fleetwood fronted. The band released its first studio album under Fleetwood Mac in 1975. Nicks was the vocalist for the chart-topping tune “Rhiannon.”

In 1977, the band released an album titled “Rumours.” The band members were battling a hard patch and keeping their fingers crossed for some breakthrough. Her album, which contained the hit tune ‘Dreams,’ became a best-seller and was nominated for a ‘Grammy Award.’She began her solo career after appearing with the band in the films ‘Tusk’ (1979) and ‘Live’ (1980), although she continued to play with the bar in the following years.

In 1981, she published her first album under her name, “Bella Donna,” which quickly rose to the “U.S.Billboard chart.” Her status as a successful solo artist was cemented due to her record, which was awarded several platinum certifications. Following the release of ‘The Wild Heart’ in 1983, she released ‘Rock a Little’ in 1985, her next studio album. The platinum certification was awarded to both of the albums. After pausing her solo career for four years, she returned with the album ‘The Other Side of the Mirror’ in 1989. It included the successful track ‘Rooms on Fire.’

During this time, not only did her issue with cocaine addiction become worse, but she also began to develop a dependent on the sedative known as Klonopin. After the album was released, she went on an extended tour around the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Europe; however, she claimed she had no memory of the times because of her drug issues. In 1994, she released the album ‘Street Angel’ after going through a very trying time in her personal and professional life. The release of the album followed this period. Due to the poor performance of the record, she was compelled to take some time off to overcome her addiction to drugs.

In 1997, the members of the band Fleetwood Mac got back together for a tour named “The Dance,” which took place at the same time as the band celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of their trendy album “Rumours.” Nicks gained the confidence to continue forward due to the tour’s tremendous success. After a hiatus of seven years without releasing a solo album, she finally did so in 2001 with the release of “Trouble in Shangri-La.” The album was successful and awarded gold certification in the United States.

The publication of her album titled ‘In Your Dreams’ in 2011 coincided with the 30th anniversary of the release of her first solo album titled ‘Bella Donna.’Her eighth solo album, titled “24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault,” was published the following year (2014), and it made its debut at number 7 on the “US Billboard.” After that, she became a member of Fleetwood Mac and went on tour with them under the name “On with the Show.”
