Teezo Touchdown Biography and Career:

Teezo Touchdown is the stage name of American rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer Aaron Thomas (born October 31, 1992). Thomas was created on October 31, 1992 in Beaumont, Texas, to a DJ father.  Because of his father’s profession, he grew up in an environment that was constantly playing music. As a result, he was exposed to a wide spectrum of musical genres while growing up, including Judas Priest, Prince, Kraftwerk, and Marvin Gaye.

Using his father’s equipment, he developed his skills as a DJ and music producer throughout his boyhood. Thomas started posting music to YouTube under the aliases AyeTee and then Teezo Suave while still a student at Beaumont High School.  Early music videos he made for rappers in his city were shot at his high school but received little recognition. He changed his stage name to Teezo Touchdown in 2016.

Around this time, he started working with the musical group CVKE Supply, and in 2017, they posted the music videos for his songs “Professional” and “It Depends” to YouTube. He put two mixtapes called “The Example” and “Cover Boy” out on SoundCloud in 2018. Three singles—”Strong Friend,” “Careful,” and “SUCKA!” with Fred Flippstone—were released by Thomas in July 2020.

In regards to “SUCKA!” Pitchfork wrote that the song lacked “the ear for production, quick flow switch-ups, or, well, ability.” Thomas directed a music video for each song before it was released. He released the songs “Rooting For You” and “Bad Enough” with Thomas Lopez in October 2020, along with corresponding music videos.  In November 2020, he made available the song “Social Cues” along with a music video. He released the song “Technically” in February 2021, and a music video for the song “Single AF” by Fousheé also featured him as a guest.

He collaborated with Tyler, the Creator in June 2021 on the song “RunItUp,” which Pitchfork deemed “unmemorable.” He released a collection of song covers in a video titled “Coverboy2” that same month. The video served as a follow-up to his mixtape “Cover Boy” from 2018, and it also featured an interview with Replica Man Magazine.  For the magazine’s cover shoot, he was dressed in Balenciaga.He appeared in July 2021’s episode of Kenny Beats’ YouTube series “The Cave” and performed a freestyle over an instrumental the two had jointly developed.

Along with the single’s release, he launched a social media campaign called “Rid The Mid” to promote it.  He ran for mayor in the fictitious city of “Midville” in a series of Instagram sketches that explained his platform and his plans if elected.  He enacted laws that made it unlawful to take another person’s lighter and for a barber to push back a person’s hairline. He appeared in Marc Jacobs’ Heaven collection in September 2021 and sang “I’m Just A Fan” at Moncler and Alyx’s Mondo Genius event.

He appears in an advertisement for Telfar’s “Bag Security Program III” in October 2021. With fellow Americans Tyler, the Creator, Vince Staples, and Colombian-American vocalist Kali Uchis, he launched the Call Me If You Get Lost Tour on February 10, 2022, to promote Tyler, the Creator’s album Call Me If You Get Lost. Additionally, he and producer Kenny Beats dropped the tune “Handyman.”  His web series Watch Your Step made its debut on Telfar TV on March 6, 2021, an online streaming service developed by the American clothing brand Telfar.

The collection of sketches features comedic shorts that advertise Telfar goods. As Thomas stated to Pigeon & Planes, “What those musicians are to me is a point of reference,” he is influenced by Prince and Rick James, two 1980s music legends. Many different genres have influenced Thomas’ music. Thomas remarked of his musical approach: “I’m never chasing a sound because it would just be mockery. Instead of attempting to replicate a certain sound, I consider what each kind of music stands for: why is rock tearing up these stadiums; how is rap tearing up the club; how is pop tearing up the charts? Although I’m still figuring all of that out, the immediacy and intensity of rock will always be present in my music, even if it doesn’t use guitars.

Thomas is the only director of all of his music videos, which are frequently accompanied with humorous commercials and extensive marketing campaigns like “Rid The Mid.” [9] He shoots the majority of his music videos and skits in front of a garage covered with graffiti in Beaumont, Texas, where he resides.  According to Complex, “In ‘Rooting For You,’ it serves as the backdrop for a boyband made up of sports mascots. The garage is constantly modified in accordance with the theme of the video.

The garage is converted into a football field in “Bad Enough” replete with artificial turf, bleachers, and a cheerleading squad. The six-inch nails in Teezo’s hair and the black mesh shirts and leather pants that make him look like he’s in a spoof of a ’80s hair metal video have generated more social media buzz than any of his songs, according to Pitchfork. Thomas is described as having “nails in his hair, chain-linked necklaces, and eye-black appropriate for the football field” by Our Generation Music.

Eugenius Hanes, his manager persona, sports a ginger wig and a cowboy hat.  Having modelled in the past for Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga, Alyx, Moncler, and Telfar, he is immersed in high fashion.
