Nolan Arenado Biography and Career:

Nolan James Arenado is an American professional baseball third baseman who plays for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on April 16, 1991, in Colorado. Arenado has garnered widespread acclaim as one of the game’s most accomplished offensive and defensive third basemen. He is the first infielder in the history of Major League Baseball to earn the Rawlings Gold Glove Award in each of his first ten seasons playing for an MLB team.

He was dealt to the Cardinals before the 2021 season after debuting Major League Baseball with the Colorado Rockies in 2013. Arenado was born in Newport Beach, California, and attended El Toro High School in Lake Forest, California, before being selected by the Rockies in the second round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft.

His defensive accomplishments include three consecutive Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Awards, three successive Fielding Bible Awards, and six consecutive Rawlings Platinum Gloves. He has also been named to the MLB All-Star team eight times. In addition to his 10 Gold Gloves, he has been honored with four total Fielding Bible Awards and three consecutive Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Awards.

On the offensive side of the ball, he has won the Silver Slugger Award five times. Additionally, he has twice topped the league in both home runs and runs batted in (RBI), and he is presently first in the big companies in RBIs since the beginning of the 2015 season. Arenado was selected to play in the All-Star Futures Game twice during his stint in the minor leagues. In 2011, he led all minor levels in RBI with 155 while playing 163 games.

Arenado set a new record for the youngest player in Rockies team history when he hit 100 home runs in the 2016 season. He accomplished this feat twice: the first on June 18, 2017, and the second on July 1, 2022. He did so, making him only the sixth player in the sport’s history to complete such a feat with a walk-off home run. In 2017, he became the 11th player in extensive league history and the first third baseman in the sport’s history to have three consecutive seasons with at least 130 runs batted in.

When the United States competes internationally, Arenado is a member of the national squad they send. As a result of his contributions, Team USA was awarded its first-ever gold medal in a World Baseball Classic (WBC) competition in 2017. Arenado was a member of the Colorado team that competed in the World Baseball Classic in 2023.

Arenado is a lifelong supporter of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He went to El Toro High School in Lake Forest, where he was a baseball team member and played shortstop with Austin Romine and Matt Chapman, who would play in the big leagues. Arenado was a junior at El Toro in 2008 when the school won the title for the Southern Section of the California Interscholastic Federation.

After dominating his division with a batting average of.456, 32 runs batted in (RBI), and 33 runs scored, he was selected to play on the All-Star squad chosen by the Los Angeles Times. Arenado’s senior year saw him post a batting average of.517, an on-base percentage (OBP).615, five home runs (HR), 14 doubles, and a triple. He was also selected to the Los Angeles Times All-Star team for the second time.

He committed to playing collegiate baseball for Arizona State University (ASU), which will pay for his education there. The Colorado Rockies chose Arenado with the 59th overall pick in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2009. Instead of attending Arizona State University, he joined the Rockies. He debuted professionally with the Casper Ghosts of the Pioneer League Rookie level, where he hit.300 in his first season.

Arenado’s best season as a professional baseball player was in 2010 with the Asheville Tourists of the Class A South Atlantic League. There, he had a batting average of.308 with 41 doubles. Arenado was regarded as the third-best prospect for the Rockies and the 80th overall by Baseball America before the start of the 2011 season. He could have been more well-regarded for his defensive abilities as his hitting power. In the Class A-Advanced California League, where he played for the Modesto Nuts, he started putting in more effort to improve his defensive skills.

Even though he had previously shown outstanding arm power and delicate hands, his terrible footwork rendered these advantages null and void. Arenado subsequently recounted that Modesto manager Jerry Weinstein often reprimanded him for “having nasty feet” and “being too lazy,” for which Arenado admitted that he “had nasty feet.” Arenado was entrusted with taking ground balls sooner than the other players, moving quickly and correctly, and keeping preparedness at third base.

In addition to this, Arenado committed himself to becoming better by challenging himself physically by lifting weights. He was finally able to cover extensive areas and make excellent long and short throws from postures varying from erect to practically lying down due to the effort, which gave him a mix of explosive energy, creativity, and finesse. This enabled him to make solid throws from different angles.

Arenado was one of two Rockies players that participated in the All-Star Futures Game in 2011 with Wilin Rosario. His totals during the first half of the game were a batting average of.283, six home runs, and 42 runs batted in. At the end of the season, he had a batting average of.298, and 20 home runs led all minor levels with 122 RBI.
