Shivam Mavi Biography and Career:

The Under-19 World Cup 2018 was a stepping stone for a select group of India’s most promising young players. Some have already established themselves as stars in the Indian Premier League, and a few have even made their debuts on the international stage. One of the features of India’s performance in the World Cup that received the most praise was the ferocity of their fast bowling, which was spearheaded by the well-known pair of Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi.

At an incredible pace that approached 145 kilometers per hour, the two of them went through every single one of the opposition’s batters. Shivam Mavi made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for India against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium on January 3, 2023. During the match, he took four wickets while only allowing 22 runs. In his first Twenty20 International, he became the third Indian cricket player to capture four wickets.

In this blog post, we will discuss several aspects of Shivam Mavi’s career, including his statistics, the Indian Premier League (IPL), social media, and more. When the boy’s father, Pankaj Mavi, brought him to coach Phoolchand Sharma, the coach was taken aback by the youngster’s age. Phoolchand was so taken aback by seeing such a young child doing a run-up and bowling with the correct action that he began coaching Mavi as a fast bowler even though Mavi had shown an interest in becoming a batter.

When he was chosen for the Delhi U14 team, he officially started his career professionally. His performance and skills were head and shoulders beyond those of anybody his age. Even though he had consistently strong performances, his name was not selected for the Delhi U16 team, which was a devastating discovery. Because of what happened, he decided to move his base to Greater Noida and sign up to play cricket with the Delhi Wanderers Cricket Academy.

There, he learned from seasoned cricket players such as Anureet Singh and Parwinder Awana, which led to a significant improvement in his game. While Shivam Mavi was practicing his bowling at the National Cricket Academy nets, Rahul Dravid, who was coaching India’s Under-19 team, saw him. It opened up a door for him to compete for India’s Under-19 team due to his efforts.

His phenomenal performance, which included taking two wickets in his first encounter against England U19, ensured that he would be selected for the U19 squad, ultimately qualifying for the World Cup in New Zealand. It is common knowledge that the Under-19 World Cup is the most important competition for showcasing new potential. Shivam Mavi is one of the top young cricketers in the world, and he proved his place among them by doing well in the World Cup. Throughout the competition, he bowled efficiently, allowing just 4.12 runs per over while collecting nine wickets.

The inswinger is the most lethal weapon in his arsenal. Batsmen had difficulty following the ball’s path, which was delivered at a velocity of 145 kilometers per hour and swinging very close to the wickets. During the opening game of the competition, which was played against Australia, he came close to bowling a ball with a speed of 149 kilometers per hour, which scared former cricket players such as Ian Bishop and Sourav Ganguly.

Together with his partner Kamlesh Nagarkoti, they were widely considered to be the most successful fast-bowling tandem India had ever fielded in a U19 competition. The Indian Premier League auction for the 2018 season took place concurrently with the course of the competition. Mavi, whose starting price was 20 lakhs, was purchased by KKR for three crores. At the Indian Premier League 2023 auction held in Kochi, he was purchased by the Gujarat Titans for six crore rupees.

During the 2018 season of the Indian Premier League, Mavi made his tournament debut against SRH. Mavi didn’t accomplish anything particularly noteworthy in any of the matches he played for KKR since their spinners were so dominant throughout the tournament. In 9 games, he got five wickets and had an average of 54. He did not get off to the hoped-for start, especially given his performance in the Under-19 World Cup. To make matters even worse, he had an injury that prevented him from participating in the 2019 competition.

However, he had a respectable performance in the IPL in 2020, taking nine wickets in eight matches with an average of 23.55. Mavi made his List A debut in a Quadrangular Series contested between the A teams of Australia, South Africa, and two Indian sides. This came after Mavi’s lackluster showing in the 2018 Indian Premier League. It was in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy that he made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in a List A match. The match was against Saurashtra.

Mavi had a strong performance by scoring a hat trick, which served as an announcement of his entrance on the home circuit. His entry into the Ranji Trophy competition was considerably more exciting. He made a four-wicket haul in his first encounter, which he used to bowl Goa out for only 152 runs, and then a five-wicket haul in the following match, which was played against Odisha. Mavi has only competed in six First-Class matches so far, during which he has collected 25 wickets (including a five-wicket haul and three four-wicket hauls).
